The fact that this weekend half of Berlin finds itself up in the northern part of the country in communistic vacation indulgence didn’t keep us from putting together a dynamite booking for tonight. James Ruskin has been one of the most important techno DJs and producers in the UK for at least for the last 15 years, internationally recognized for his bombastic techno sound that fits perfectly in our steel and cement basement shrine. His last release on Tresor Records was awhile back but nobody’s counting time because James Ruskin has had enough on his plate. On his side tonight we welcome Marcelus, an exceptionally gifted DJ from France whose technoid sound has found its way to DJ Deep’s quality label Deeply Rooted House. In the past Marcelus has has impressed fans on both Globus and Tresor decks in our house. Support is from NEXT’s Manuel Münster. In the +4Bar we’re stretching a bridge between us and the Spanish city of Guernica, near Bilbao. The label Fiakun is located there, a music vault of tasteful techhouse that has made its way to Berlin through the likes of the Suol label and artists like Till von Sein and Daniel Bortz. Willy Kasper and El_Txef_A (pronounced “Elchefa”) know each other since childhood and are a very well-attuned team together on the decks. The latter has also worked his career through corners as a concert musician and has no qualms about connecting downbeats, disco, house and pop with strings, piano and emotional nuances on his latest album.
